Did you ever have a bad day? Sure you have and so have I.
A day where everything goes slightly askew or totally wrong.
A day where all your spiritual progress toward becoming a more compassionate person feels like it got wiped out, and will be forever.
Ahhh- take a deep breath. Then forgive yourself.
We can blame it on the planets, or the barometric pressure. Or, it could be our own energy or someone else's.
We are imperfect and we make mistakes.
I still wake up in the middle of the night remembering something from long ago. Nooo! I can't believe I said that, did that, reacted that way, etc.
So if your bad day was today, examine the day, what happened. Think what you would do differently, or how you could have shifted the situation.
Then accept your behaviour and move on.
In our meditation group, after a long and deep night, we all came out of the meditation and shared what we received. Astoundingly, in each her own way, we all got the same message, "You are forgiven."
Wow! Thank you God and Goddess and other people for this.
It really was profound and covers alot of ground. Now we need to really internalize this great gift we have received.
Tomorrow is another day to become a better person, Joan Didion said this, I think, and I try to keep it in mind.
I suppose this feels like a "first world problem" but it still matters to those around us and to our own journey, and so ultimately to the world. Being human is sometimes not so easy.
I was with my then four year old one day and the question came up ( it is amazing what four-year-olds will say and think about) "Why are we here?"
She said, "I'm here to be with you."
If we could embrace the consciousness of all ages and expressions of life, we would be perfect.
But I agree with my four-year-old- I am here to be with you- to create Love and Beauty and try to understand each other.
So, I send love to each of you and wish you many very good days.
Namaste, Lia
P.S. Next time, a new meditation. Also, I am thinking about streaming alot more meditations on my website or putting them up on itunes or something. Working on how to make the meditations more available. I sometimes want to scroll back and do my earlier meditation blogs but find it a bit of a hassle, that's why I am thinking of putting them in book form, with a table of contents, or just recording more and streaming them. So, I'll keep you posted! Lol!

Fading Friendships
I was thinking the other day about how some friendships just seem to end. They just kind of fade away without any big break-up.
I have experienced both sides of this many times. It could be as simple as your kids now going to different schools. The common ground that brought you together is no longer there.
Or, maybe you have completed your contract with them. You can just feel it.
I remember someone I once meditated with. We were getting together less and less often. Then I bought her some earrings. When I gave them to her I knew in that moment we were done. It was a parting gift that needed to be given and then we were complete.
It's OK- people change, life changes.
I know someone who seems to keep in contact with everyone she ever met since high school- she thrives on it and does so gracefully.
I confess, I can never seem to keep track of more than four or five people at a time plus family.
It is just the flow of life. I think of the beautiful children's poem by Rose Fyleman, where the fairy releases all her purchases, like the mouse "then she kissed its silken ears, thanked it, and let it go."
Letting people go, just blessing them, without any head trips- a good move, I think.
And if life brings you together again, that's a gift, too.
***
So, breathe, ground yourself, and center. Bring in your own energy from above and fill your body with golden light all the way from your toes to the top of your head.
Breathe. Notice any cords still lingering between you and this person.
If it feels right, gently dissolve what is left of these, watching them fall away into nothing.
Fill your aura now, repairing any rips or tears. Fill with your own llight until your aura is healthy, elastic and strong, ready to go forth with new creativity and possibilities in the future. Who knows who will come into your life tomorrow?

Meditations on the Heart
As we approach Valentine's Day, I thought it would be a good opportunity to do a heart meditation.
I looked at quite a few in the archives and noticed how the heart chakra is, of course, always included and present in all the meditations.
In the year or so before receiving a pacemaker, I remember I felt as if I couldn't fully contact my heart chakra while meditating. I didn't know why, it just felt spacey and out of reach.
Near the end of that time, I had to keep my eyes open and not " go in" with my students- I felt I was about to pass out, and I was, I found out later, since my heart was stopping.
What does this mean? I don't know. I felt I was always coming from the heart, but like everyone, needed to open my heart more to be truly compassionate.
Lately, members of my family have had heart surgery, heart problems, heart attacks- aging, I guess and , yes, society's heart in general is under alot of stress!
We have all had our hearts broken in various ways and broken others' hearts, too, just by living- but we wouldn't give our lives up to avoid being wounded.
Every heart seeks love and communion. The heart teaches us about relationship and joins our emotional and spiritual selves to our physical selves.
So, I give you these thoughts on the heart, and this meditation and we will see if any insight or healing is there.
To begin, Breathe.
Let the air swirl in like a wave and circle, cleaning out each chakra. Releasing old residue, cobwebs, thought forms hanging on from the past that you no longer need. You don't have to know exactly what they are, just intend to release. Let go on the outbreath.
Take some time.
After this cleansing, open your 7th chakra at the top of your head and let Light pour in, flooding your body with light and new, clear energy.
Now, focus on your heart chakra. Quiet yourself until you feel your heart beating. Quiet, quiet, until you can almost feel the blood moving in your veins. Breathe.
This heart is yours. It has been with you for a long time.
Picture yourself in your mother's womb. Hear your heart beat and your mother's as you float and dream, getting ready to enter this world. Hear the beat that connects you to this life.
Now, picture yourself in your crib, crying- how that heart is beating!
Feel yourself a little older, running through the grass with joy. Feel the grass under your little bare feet.
Now you are a little older, taking test at school. Your heart is there beating with you as you think and concentrate.
This heart has been there all along. It hold memories from everything you have experienced, from all the times in your life.
Now, let light from above flow through your heart. Let any cloudiness or dark spots in the area around your heart be dispersed, washed away by the purest, clearest light. See the light flow from your heart through your arteries, opening them, clearing them. See your heart as a healthy muscle, pumping the blood and healing light throughout your body, all chambers of the heart working perfectly.
See your life force energy flowing freely and joyfully. Let it reach all the cells and organs of your body, purifying them and returning them to their full vitality.
Now, go deeper into your heart. Find the place where your innocence exists. The first place, where life came to you, and you joyfully reached out to it. Be there awhile.
Reach again now and hear the heart beat of All That Is. Open to that feeling. Let the light of a Higher Heart come and surround your heart. Know that you are part of the plan, whatever that means to you.
Imagine living your life being aware of and in alignment with this Universal flow of energy.
Remember times in your life when you really felt in the flow of Divine Energy.
Is it possible something larger is directing your life along with your participation through choices you have made, insights that have come to you, or the people you have connected with and love?
Take some time, and be open to any answers you receive.
***
Breathe, and gently come back to your body. Become aware of where you are sitting, wiggle your fingers and toes.
Fill your lungs with life, align with your hopes and dreams, going forward with an open heart, a strong heart this day, ready for new adventures in relationship to your loved ones and the world.
Namaste- Lia
P.S. After all this, I feel I am more in touch with my heart, that the heart center has been challenged and is more open.
I find myself remembering to "rise above it" more often in uncomfortable situations, or when I find myself judging myself or others too harshly.
I hope I continue to embrace life in general from this more heart-empowered space and follow my most recent instruction from my guides, which is "Use Joy as Fuel."
P.S.S.
Also, thank you to the cardiac team at Marin General Hospital for re-connecting me to my heart. Wonderful people who do this work every day- Many blessings to them-

Musings on a Tuesday
Is it just me, or is this aging thing a real trip?
I did not focus on my parents' aging process- mostly I lived across the country- but whoa, now I understand how I could have tried to help them more.
That's the way of it, though. Until you are the age they were, you don't fully get it. That's true of every age, I guess.
When you have children, you get to see the whole process, and also to view your own childhood through different eyes.
Consciousness is painful sometimes, with joy mixed in.
"It's the way it is set up."
Probably true. Must just re-invent yourself with each new awakening, suck it up, be grateful and look forward, trying to be truly loving along the way.
Acknowledge, clear, re-invent and live forward!
( And for God(dess)'s sake, quite wallowing! (My friend and I say this to each other when it's necessary, here I am saying it to myself!)) Lol-
Many blessings and Happy Holidays- Lia

Global Healing Meditation
This is what we did the other night-
Begin to breathe, letting go of your day. Take a few deep breaths, clearing away tension. Release. In your own time, naturally let your breathing slow til you are breathing in a relaxed way.
To breathe is to be alive- to bring in life force energy. Breathing reflects the breathing of the whole universe as it expands and contracts. Breathing is "the breath of God." Now, as you breathe, align your breath with the breath of God and Goddess, the breath of the universe.Take some time.
***
Bring your attention to your heart. Your heartbeat is the very sound of life. Remember seeing your baby's heartbeat on the sonogram? Then you knew you truly carried a new life.
Go deeply into your heartbeat and the rhythm of the universe. Know you are alive.
***
Align your heart with the heartbeat of the Great Mother. Allow yourself to rest upon Her, feeling her heartbeat, for She holds you here.
Now, easily, gently, align your heartbeat with everyone else's in this room. This entrainment has probably already occurred, just realize it.
Open your seventh chakra at the top of your head and begin to fill with Light. Meditating with Light is seeing and working with the light of Divine Energy. Let the light heal the sore, beat-up places, the empty places, the places filled with doubt and sadness. Let the Light enter your bloodstream, healing your cells and strengthening their functions.
***
Allow even more llight to come through your seventh chakra. Visualize a large cup or chalice in the middle of the circle. Channel light down to your heart chakra. Now, send it into the cup in the center of the circle. Fill the chalice with Llight to overflowing until it spills over the rim.
Let this healing Light flow over the brim to cover the whole Earth.
Let it be like a balm to all people, entering their hearts, quelling their fear. Fill it again and let it calm Mother Earth, for she is always affected by the emotions man.
And now the light in the center of the circle has become very beautiful. The cup fades and in its place you sense a Presence.
It is the Presence of Peace.
Place what needs to be healed in this Holy Light. People of all countries, relationships between countries, world leaders, the grieving, the land itself, the animals. Place anyone you know who needs healing in the Light. After a while, people and situations will show up, walking through the light. Take some time to hold the energy, with help from above, for this to occur.
***
Do you feel other groups like this one coming together around the world? See all these circles of peace and healing connected like a web of light all over the globe. Strengthen these lines of Light.
Feel the heartbeat of all the people in the world who want peace. Align your heart with theirs. Begin to send this feeling out as a beacon of llight and higher consciousness, and a hope that we can provide a loving world for our children and grandchildren.
Begin to feel a sense of peace in your heart, a peace that permeates all your bodies, mental, physical, emotional and Spiritual.
***
It is time to close our circle now. Thank all our helpers, seen and unseen who graced us with their energy tonight.

Farewell for a while and other thoughts
The last meditation I wrote for the blog is one I am doing everyday (releasing the past, and the future, blessing them both, and resting in the present). Everyone talks of being in the now but I need a process to get there.
This one is just working for me at this time, and causing positive changes in my body and my life.
If you scroll through these meditations, and find one that speaks to you, do it for a week, or a month. Then move on to another one or to something else. Everyone has their own timing on these things, since everyone is at a different stage.
But above all, listen to yourself about what feels right for you.
We were talking about this in class the other day.
I was telling them to beware of teachers or groups who begin to tell them how to dress, what to eat, who can be their friends and what career to have.
Then, clever students that they are, said " But you are telling us what to do right now." LOL.
I said, yes, you are right, ignore what I say, too!
If you want a teacher, find one. If you want a group, join one. If it is on your path, it will probably teach you something. There are stages in a group that I have noticed. Infatuation, excitement, creativity, then disenchantment, leading to eventual dissolving of the group. It is like a band- beautiful music for a while, but they always break up. But the experience can be worth it.
I am just saying- Believe no one. Believe everyone. The Truth is Out There.( silly x-files reference). But not really, it is within you. And in your relationship to God, to the world, to your family and to yourself. You are your own authority and everyone has a direct path to their own truth.
I hope these processes continue to be helpful to people- to relax, to help them find a little peace within themselves, to see beauty in the world.
So I will not post quite as often for awhile. I need to record some of the newer meditations, maybe look for a way to publish them in book form.
Blessings going out to you all, Lia
P.S.
I have to say, alot of methods and forms of study are great, but if you are ever feeling really wobbly, go to a licensed therapist and consider what they have to say, then integrate it into your other practices. Namaste~

New Meditation for Autumn
For this one, lie down on the floor in savasana pose, as if you are at the end of a yoga session and are relaxing.
Breathe, and start to release the recent past, and, as you go, the further past.
Feel where your body is making contact with the floor. Breathe into your heels, and release. Breathe into your calves, and release.
The back of your knees, your thighs, and release. Now breathe into your shoulders and release. Your upper arms, elbows, lower arms, hands and release.
Go back to the base of your spine, breathe and release. Your lower back, middle back, between your shoulder blades. Work your way all the way up your spine and release from every vertebrae. Now your neck, your jaw and your head.
You may see people or situations come up as you do this, just watch them appear in your mind, bless them and let them go.
Take a deep breath and completely release your past. Now breathe and release your future, also blessing it.
You are now resting between your past and your future.
Breathe, and float there awhile. Just neutral, relaxed.
Floating but supported, no agenda.
Be here awhile.
***
Visualize your light body hovering above you. See it as your perfect body- all cells functioning perfectly- all systems working well.
Gently bring your light body into your body lying on the floor.
Let it float in. See how it fits your body, filling all the way to your toes and fingertips, all the way along your spine, filling all organs, muscles, every space.
Open to health, vitality, perfect function. Be here awhile.
***
Let the light bring you the new energy of autumn- crisp, light, spicy.
Energy that is yours to use, to create the future you want, bringing joy into the making of it.
***
Now, wiggle your fingers and toes, take a deep breath, and as you stand up, stretch and open your arms to receive this blessing from the universe. Namaste- Lia
